Golden police run 11 Flock cameras, used since 2023, on a contract that costs $27,500 a year and runs to July 2028. In October 2026 councilmembers Sandra Knecht and Emily Kurzinski proposed ending the city's use of Flock and creating a citywide, publicly available framework for surveillance technology; council will take it up at a study session. The police chief says the department has added audits, limited data sharing, and set 30-day retention.
